What is Dare to Imagine (D2I)?
The Dare to Imagine Fund is the next level of the Bright Hope Baptist Church capital campaign. A capital campaign is comprised of projects and plans that SURPASS the regular budgeted amount to spend each year on the “normal maintenance” of the ministry. This fund is generated from ADDITIONAL giving-sacrificial giving– that is above and beyond tithes and offerings.
What is a tithe?
"In the Hebrew "maaser" or "maasrah," is translated tenth, or tenth part, and in Greek "apodekatoo" and in both, it means a payment or giving or receiving of the tenth.

What is an offering?
An offering is any money given to a church by a non-member or member that is not part of their tithe.
What does it mean to tithed?
To “tithed” originated in the Old Testament. It is a tenth of our income that we give to God. The Bible records numerous accounts of man “tithing” to God in the Old and New Testament. It is the people of God giving 10% of our income to God via our local church.
What is the difference between tithes, offerings and D2I?
Tithes are part of your commitment and relationship with God. Offerings is anything you choose to give above and beyond your tithe or if you are visiting another church.
D2I is a sacrificial offering, and is above your tithe. It is a pledge made to support the necessary additional expenses of the church.
If I had to choose between tithes and D2I, what should I choose?
You would always choose your tithe, because that is your obligation to the God-to give a portion back to Him.
Where do our tithes and offerings go?
- Preaching the Gospel
- Teaching Bible Stud
- Ministering to the needs of our congregation
- Giving scholarships to all Bright Hope youth
- Sponsoring a Summer Leadership Camp
- Support of our foreign mission in Haiti and Sierra Leone
- And spreading the Gospel through our more than 28 dynamic ministries!
Why do we need another capital campaign?
God wants Bright Hope to be a place where His people can BELIEVE, IMAGINE, and GROW. And Bright Hope is that place! Souls are being saved, lives are being transformed, and we are growing in spirit and in numbers! We thank God for the move of the Holy Spirit in this season. So as we are growing, we are also learning the most effective ways to do ministry in the 21st Century-from addressing the much needed maintenance repairs in the church to the need for new technology to reach souls all over the world-there is a need for additional financial support above our budget.
How is the Dare to Imagine capital campaign different?
This campaign is different in the following ways:
- ALL members have the opportunity to participate by choosing a pledge amount that is within their budget.
- This campaign is only for two years from the date you sign up.
- This campaign will only be successful if we have 1,000 members to make the commitment of $600 a year.
